Girl’s desperate to get her camping fix.

1st Episode Review (Warning: Minor Spoilers to Follow):

Laid-Back Camp was quite the success last year, so much so that the series got a 2nd season, a live action drama series and a short anime green-lit. While the 2nd Season and drama are still up in the air for release dates, the short anime, Room Camp, is here to tide fans over. Your favorite girls are back, just as silly and easy going as ever with sub four minute shorts focusing on their journey around Yamanashi. Nadeshiko, Chiaki, and Aoi are doing the local stamp rally in hopes of winning Steam Buns.

In truth there isn’t much to say about this series. As someone who enjoyed Laid-Back Camp, but was never crazy about it, I feel like Room Camp doesn’t offer much in the way of value. It’s a chance to see these characters again, but the plot sets itself much more so as an advertisement for the local Yamanashi area than anything of true entertainment value. To be fair however, that is on brand for the series, as Laid-Back Camp was basically a low-key advertisement for camping around Japan’s various camp sites. I still think though that this is a title best left to Laid-Back Camp diehards; basically audiences that are impatient for a second season and could do with a Nadeshiko fix sooner rather than later.

Take it or Leave it: Sure to please the die hards, Room Camp is a ho-hum short anime that’s true purpose seems fit as promotion for the Yamanashi area and to tide fans over until a proper 2nd season is ready.
